SolarEdge invented an intelligent inverter solution that revolutionized the way power is harvested and managed in a solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The SolarEdge direct current (DC) optimized inverter system maximizes power generation at the individual PV module level while lowering the cost of energy produced by the solar PV system.
Addressing a broad range of solar market segments, from residential solar installations to commercial and small utility-scale solar installations, the SolarEdge system consists of inverters, power optimizers, storage solutions, and a cloud-based monitoring platform.
The SolarEdge system enables superior power harvesting and module management by deploying power optimizers to each PV module while maintaining a competitive system cost by keeping the alternating current (AC) inversion and grid interaction centralized using a simplified DC-AC inverter.
Module manufacturers, installers, and system owners enjoy the benefits of SolarEdge technology, which allows maximum power production through module-level maximum power point tracking (MPPT), optimal roof utilization through constraint-free design, and enhanced maintenance and accurate troubleshooting through module-level monitoring. Another benefit is the DC shutdown for installer, maintenance personnel, and firefighter safety through SolarEdge’s SafeDC™ mechanism.
The SolarEdge portfolio of products includes power optimizers, highly efficient PV inverters and a Web platform for module-level monitoring and fault detection. The SolarEdge system enables harvesting more solar power from any PV system by effectively removing the known system design and performance constraints
Longer Warranties – 12 years standard parts and labour warranty for a SolarEdge inverter and 25 years warranty for SolarEdge DC Optimisers. Most manufacturers provide a 5 year standard warranty or an upgrade for a fee.
Panel Level System Monitoring – Know how every panel is performing. A defect with a panel doesn’t effect the whole system, only that panel. Owners also receive email notifications alerting to any issues.
Increased Safety – In the event of a fault or when the AC power supply is shut down the SolarEdge DC cables are automatically de-energised to 1V. Power optimisers shut down the DC voltage in the PV wires to protect installers, maintenance personnel, and firefighters. A typical solar PV system string would normally have up to 600V DC running through it whenever the sun is shining on the panels even when the inverter is turned off.

Proactive Maintenance – We can decifer and arrange and potential warranty work immediately if an issue arises rather than lengthy site visits back and forth trying to figure out what might be wrong with your system removing the element of frustration and costly down time a traditional string solar system would have.
Future Expandability & Future Proof – If you ever have a defect with a panel and it requires replacing in a few years time then the replacement panel will most likely be of a higher output and more efficient than the existing installed panels. On a traditional string system that new higher efficiency panel would be brought down to the performance of the original installed panels creating a loss of efficiency. With SolarEdge every panel operates independantly giving you the maximum efficiency from each panel all the time.
Battery Ready – SolarEdge has a unique low cost add on device called a StorEdge unit which allows for a standard SolarEdge inverter to become a fast DC battery charger allowing for the easy retrofit of an LG Chem battery pack.
